Forest guest house · Northern Moldova
A handmade stone-and-timber house at the edge of the woods — quiet, full of light, and built for slowing down with the people you like most.
Welcome
Stonewood House blends handmade character with easy, modern comfort — the warmth of a place built by hand, with the ease of a place you can simply settle into.
Rough white-stone walls, exposed timber beams, terracotta floors and deep-toned Moldovan carpets give every room its warmth, while big windows pull the daylight and the trees inside. Step out the back and the forest begins — your own pocket of shade and quiet, far from the heat of summer.
No two corners are quite the same. The house was built and furnished by hand — a timber frame you can see and touch, a stone hearth, woven carpets in forest greens and roses. It feels lived-in and cared for, the opposite of a copy-paste rental.
An open kitchen and living room sit under the beams on the ground floor, with extra sleeping tucked up in the loft beneath the eaves. Space to cook together and spread out — and still find a quiet corner with a book.
Out back, a covered stone terrace and a brick wood-fired oven look straight into the forest. Long lunches, slow evenings, the smell of woodsmoke — this is where summers here are spent.
A look around
The setting
The house sits on the edge of the forest in northern Moldova — dense canopy behind you, open sky above.
It's private and genuinely quiet: birdsong, rustling leaves, and not much else. Cool in the heat of summer, golden in autumn, it's an easy place to switch off and reconnect with the people you came with.
